What is ISO 17025?
ISO 17025 is the global standard for the technical competence of test laboratories. First issued in 1999 by the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), is the single most important standard for testing laboratories around the world. The standard governs the quality management system of a laboratory, demanding strict adherence to rigorous technical requirements.
Specifically, the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 standard requires a laboratory to maintain equipment and testing facilities to a specific standard, adhere to documented policies and procedures, train employees to proper competence levels, validate methodology, confirm test equipment meets the required standards and is calibrated to ISO 17025 standard. ISO 17025 testing will provide an as found performance test data in an approved report format.
